Selected Color Paintings

My journey in serious painting has evolved over 62 years from realistic narratives through abstract expressionism to total improvisation. For a long time my work seemed tethered to values but now I feel I’ve finally become a colorist. Improvisation allows me to go wherever the paint wants and not question the reason why or the meaning of the result, whether narrative or not. My goal is simply a stimulating, surprising picture.
